Overview

A practice in designing a native mobile application to both iOS and Material Designs guidelines standards.

Deliverables

Create a podcast app with features that will allow users to better engage with their favourite podcast content, whether it be for personal or educational reasons, and discover similar relevant content based on community activity.

Brief Requirements - The project brief is a practice in designing with iOS and Material Designs guidelines in mind. 12 Native mobile screens in total, for both iOS and Android, with at least 3 User Flows included within these.

User flows

The 12 screens I designed for my brief ran from the Account creation and Onboarding, through the Podcast channels and episodes, into the Play Operation Screens and Transcript screens.

The below flow demonstrates the journey from first entering Castify, up to creating a custom Timestamp within an Episode.

Design system

I opted for a simple illustration with recognisable symbolism towards casting and audio streaming.

There’s 2 versions of the logo, the first being the radial icon with the casting strokes subtracted to reveal background colours, and an inverted icon which can stand alone in designs.

Design system

The icon set was built upon current media player standards, with a strict guideline to be used as white only - with the idea of a glow being applied in the play screen.j

A total of 12 high fidelity app screens were submitted for the final project, with varying sets for iOS and Android.
